Enter your name and mailing address, to receive a free 6x8 original print of Saint Andrew from a woodblock that was hand-carved by sophomore Joseph Koskinen.
Woodblock or block printing is a traditional method of printing text, patterns, designs, or images, that involves carving a negative of the image to be printed into a block of wood. The process of creating a woodblock demands a steady hand, attention to detail, and the plenty of patience!
A negative image is carefully etched into a block of hardwood using hand carving tools.
A thin layer of ink is applied to the carved image.
Paper is pressed onto the inked block, then removed and allowed to dry.
